Thanks to their distinctive appearance, documented technical parameters and low-maintenance surface, Timbermax composite boards are a suitable material for use in the construction industry in places where wood is too difficult to maintain and unprofitable as a suitable investment in the long term.

For a better idea, we would like to see an example based on our many years of experience in practice. The most suitable would be the golf resort in Šajdíkovo Humence, where ten years ago we clad one of the first buildings in the newly created cottage zone with Timbermax facade profiles. Over time, a continuous development grew up with a predominance of wooden facades, which are preferred in the defined zoning plan of the area. In recent years, we have received several requests to replace timber cladding with maintenance-free façade profiles, in addition to new orders from neighbours in the area. During the years of weathering of the unmaintained wood panels on the façade, people in the neighborhood have realized the benefits of the properties of Timbermax profiles and are gradually replacing the wood cladding with composites. This example is appropriate considering several factors. The timber and composite façade cladding were implemented at the same time and in close proximity. The building owners were thus able to observe the properties and behaviour of the materials with regard to the long-term level and value for money of the initial investment. Timbermax's solid-colour façade cladding literally shines amongst timber-clad buildings with visible wear and tear on the material. The above example does not apply to timber façades maintained at least twice a year since initial implementation. It is up to the client to re-evaluate and compare the amount of the initial cost of the WPC façade with the wooden façade and its necessary maintenance.

The aim of wood-plastic composite manufacturers is to replace wood in exterior applications, where the effect of UV radiation in particular degrades its quality and appearance. The properties of wood can only be preserved by careful care and maintenance, which is time-consuming and costly.

When it comes to approximating the appearance of wooden terraces or facades, the Timbermax composite board finish is a premium option for projects where a realistic wood appearance and engineered exterior performance are priorities.

As the name implies, the ambition of Timbermax EXOTIC composite profiles is to replace exotic woods.

The Exotic board consists of a WPC core and a Protect shell, which is applied to the surface in a single double extrusion process, and since the core of the wood-plastic profile contains the same component (HDPE), this protective shell is non-removable. The role of the shell is to provide the properties of the terrace and facade panels that are not provided by wood or by conventional wpc panels produced by single extrusion.

Timbermax Exotic composite profiles with their appearance faithfully resemble exotic woods, which can evoke a feeling of luxury and exoticism. The client can choose according to his preference whether he wants to have the boards on the cladding surface in one or more shades. It is possible to alternate not only the colour shades according to the colour chart, but also the gradient of one colour. The technology of applying and mixing the colours is based on random proportional quantities. The form of the production process ensures that each batch of production is subtly different. The aim is to achieve the unique visual characteristics of the wooden board.

Easily washable surface and stain resistance

Timbermax Exotic Composite Boards come with a 25 year guarantee against stains and other common dirt. As a result, the maintenance of your patio or facade really couldn't be easier. Timbermax EXOTIC boards are perfect for outdoor use. They can withstand all weather conditions in our environment. The non-absorbent surface is even self-cleaning in uncovered areas - just wait for the next rain.

Colour stability

The colour fastness of Timbermax WPC profiles, measured using a UV test that simulates outdoor weather conditions, is incomparably higher compared to conventional WPC materials. This is not only a technically measurable change in shade, but also a preservation of the original appearance compared to conventional WPC materials, where the surface weathers and develops a patina over a period of weeks due to UV radiation. This is also stated by some suppliers on their websites.

Thermal expansion

Timbermax Exotic boards have significantly lower thermal expansion than most competing wood-plastic materials. This difference is up to 40-50%. This is an overlooked detail, but in practice it means that the expansion joints between the terrace or façade boards are significantly smaller than with competing products. From an aesthetic point of view, this is very important for large areas of cladding and design details. Thanks to the minimal expansion of Timbermax profiles, we are able to create the precise architectural detailing that renowned architects and clients expect from our designs. With most WPC boards it is not possible to achieve the same 2mm gap in the longitudinal direction and overlap.

Overheating of WPC boards in summer heat

Due to the inferior quality of WPC boards, which have been offered on the Slovak market for decades, some customers, upon first contact with Timbermax boards, develop fears of overheating of WPC profiles in the summer heat. Testing and comparing the profiles over the years of working with this material shows the following.

Compared to hardwood in a similarly dark finish, the temperature difference with the timbermax profile is a maximum of 5-7 °C. This is a surface temperature that can only be perceived by touch or contact with the bare skin of the body surface. In practice, this means that it is possible to walk barefoot across the terrace but not to stand in one place for long periods of time.

The heated WPC patio boards cool down a moment after the clouds arrive or the awning is opened. However, they will never feel cold to the touch like stone or ceramic. Outside of the summer heat, the thermal properties of Timbermax profiles are an advantage on terraces. Timbermax flooring is already inviting to the touch under the soft March light and is not unpleasantly cool like stone or ceramic.

When thinking about overheating of materials in the exterior, all variables need to be taken into account. Recent years, with new temperature records, have shown us that it is neither pleasant nor sensible to stand outdoors for long periods of time on an overheated stone, wooden terrace or WPC board in the extreme heat. Tmbermax patio slabs will only heat up under direct sunlight, not from warm air. In the summer heat, it is certainly more pleasant and healthier to stay in the shade or indoors.

We don't normally go barefoot outside on the terrace. The vast majority of us move around on the terrace in slippers.

Sunbathing directly on a wooden terrace is unpleasant because of the splinters from the boards. A towel or sun lounger is therefore used. We can do the same when sunbathing on a WPC terrace. The towel prevents direct skin contact with the WPC boards, so that the person lying down does not feel their temperature.

Mechanical resistance

The surface of Exotic boards is highly mechanically resistant, which users will appreciate especially on their terraces. Unlike facades, terraces are exposed to more mechanical wear and tear due to walking, the movement of pets and the shifting of garden or other furniture. If a sharp object accidentally scratches a Tiimbermax board during use, it can be easily repaired by smoothing it with a smooth metal or other hard object.

Profile shape and mounting system

The shape of Timbermax Exotic profiles allows universal use on terraces and facades. The internally adapted production process, the profile design and the proprietary system of fixing elements create a complex final work with properties engineered for long-term exterior use. This ensures long-lasting satisfaction and carefree use of the delivered work.

Thanks to their design, no objects, coins or other valuables will fall through the 2mm wide joints of the patio boards.

Neither the subfloor nor the substructure under the terrace boards is visible to the naked eye when viewed between the joints together with the fixing system or screws. The tiling surface is smooth and beautifully clean.

The stainless steel fixing clips are made of material of the appropriate thickness to guarantee the long-term stability of the entire system. The "non-bouncing" terrace is a sign of high quality assembly and correct connection of the whole system.

The most commonly used type of board in the implementation of terraces is the T138 and T73 profile. The profiles are mounted on an invisible joint with the Timbermax® clip system designed internally together with the shape of the board profile. The T138 and T73 profiles are used for cladding both small and large areas.

Profiles F and FT are only used as supplementary profiles for detailing the building and are not used on larger cladding areas. P profiles are gradually gaining in prestige and are used in all types of cladding except terraces.

We stock profiles in two basic standardized lengths, namely 2880mm and 4400mm. T138 profiles are available in stock all year round in 2880mm lengths in the first sixteen colour shades. For 4400mm length profiles, please always keep the company's information line up to date.

Based on many years of experience, we do not recommend to power the boards for more than three meters during installation. The preferred method of cladding large areas is therefore to install the 2880mm long profiles in the parquet method. In order to achieve a clean design, a certain number of clients demand tiles without connection, whether for terraces or vertically mounted facades. It is also possible to assemble the boards in this way, but it is necessary to take into account a greater waste of boards and therefore a greater consumption of material per square metre.
